On My Radar

Bits & Bobs

Sorry for the radio silence—this has been an insanely busy six weeks, and it’s not over yet. I need to learn to say “maybe,” or better yet, “let me think about it.” So here is a long-overdue post of random bits and bobs on my radar.

A friend wrote an exquisite collection of poems, and I’m having them bound at Thornwillow Press as a surprise. I’ve been waiting for an excuse to go there. I saw and loved Fantasy Life with Amanda Peet. It’s one of those cringey, offbeat indie movies I adore. Amazing cast. I also have tickets for What We Did Before Our Moth Days on its final day, May 24—super excited.

Elizabeth Strout is such a brilliant writer and The Things We Never Say is no exception—it’s excellent.

And on the shopping front: I ordered the Beare Park shorts (get on the waitlist, sizes are restocked constantly), started using the Augustinus Bader The Geranium Rose Body Cream (I was already devoted to the body oil), and bought another pair of Gabriela Hearst pumps in tan that were on my feet seconds after they landed on my doorstep.

:
  • I saw the Devil wears Prada 2. Meryl had some good lines and there were some Gabriela Hearst pieces in the movie. If it does well they may make a third movie.

Hope it’s on your list because I’m curious about your thoughts.

  • Love your GH pumps and I really like them with the raffia inset too. Artie Dam forever ~ can’t get him out of my mind.

  • Thank you for the reminder about Thornwillow Press! Had completely forgotten about this source.! I browsed the site over the weekend and ordered more than a few titles, and started searching for some out of print. The descriptions are well written – reminded me of a beautifully edited book catalog we used to receive in the mail (decades ago) called ‘A Common Reader.’
Amanda Peet is such a refreshing actress – so much more depth and talent than the rest. Just adored her work with Diane Keaton!

  • I was excited to see your post pop up in my in-box…always look forward to reading your blog. The shorts you ordered look great. I would love to see how you will wear them.

  • Between Claire Danes and Amanda Peet, it’s nice to see on-screen representation for those of us choosing to forego injectables and whatnot.

  • Do you think the YSL 5’7 small bag in suede is a classic?

  • Yes, it’s a classic in my book
