The Miu Miu Bonnet

I bought this Miu Miu bonnet/cap/balaclava in grey and I’m on the lookout for tan. I like this one because it’s trim to the head, can be worn under the hood of my parka, and it doesn’t look infantile. While searching for it, up popped a Miu Miu crocheted vest I’d whiffed on years ago — woo hoo!

  • I love anything balaclava-esque – so chic and practical. It’s a yes from me!

  • Audrey Hepburn wore something similar to this at a ski resort in an old movie. She looked fabulous – no surprise there! On anyone else, 1950’s swimming cap comes to mind. Sorry ~ I’m just not seeing it.
    Please send us a photo this winter and prove us all wrong. 🙂

  • So so cool. I still wear my old one from Barneys I bought back in 2008. It also looks great as a hood when not on your head with a good coat. I want the tan one so if you find it, let me know.

  • Intriguing… a hat lover. Going to try this style.

  • I love the look. I worry the wool would itch under my neck. Please let us know how it feels.

  • Sorry…$500 for this is something I can’t see. If a wool layer is required under a hood, I’m sure there are many more attractive alternatives at a fraction of the price. ;-}

  • Sorry, but just so silly.

  • I definitely have appreciation for the artistic (and artsy) quality of the bonnet and, especially, since it does take us into another era. Coming from Europe, I experience almost nostalgic feelings about elegant pieces of this nature. However, wearing a bonnet (no matter the quality of execution) in modern times would be a challenge and my suspicion is that it would age anybody above the early 20s. Irina

  • Silly looking…not for grown ups unless you look like Audrey Hepburn.

  • On point, Preston. I am seeing them everywhere but this one is lovely and feminine. I have been putting my little boy in them since he was born and I have wanted my own ever since.

  • Immediately makes me think of Audrey Hepburn in the opening of Charade. And my sister and I wore them as children in the early through the mid 60’s.
