The Many Shades of Beige
I’ve been passively looking for a traditional trench and this one by Chloé caught my eye. I love the leather trim but, which shade is the coat in real life? Same issue I had with a SL duffle coat last fall. In a comment on the True Colors post, Lisa F. suggested that items be listed with the corresponding Pantone color number, which is a brilliant idea. Oh, the perils of loving beige and online shopping…

Preston, this coat is gorgeous!
You and I have similar coloring and I find beige the most difficult color to get right. I think a trip to Chloe and a salesperson with a good eye is the answer. I’ll meet you there! 😉 G.
I agree, it is fraught! Ordered a Joseph and a Frame trench. Both had too much of the dreaded (for me) pink tinge. No more online I think, at least for beige.
I recently read that online retailers are getting hammered by apparel returns. It’s no wonder! Color representation and sizing vary wildly. Listing the Pantone color number, and actual garment measurements (including lengths) would go a long way to reducing the flood of returns! It’s surprising it hasn’t been done yet.
Listing the Pantone color is genius! Can’t tell you how many times I ordered what was described as navy only to receive what was more like royal blue.
Such a great idea about listing the Pantone color along with garment measurements!
Sorry to say this particular trench looks too busy to me…I know I’d get tired of the trim very quickly…
Marks & Spencer does a superb job of providing details on sizes and measurements including length and inseam leg length for pants.
