On My Radar

To The Max

Vogue has challenged a bunch of designers, models, and editors to style 1 item 7 ways. My favorite #VogueRewear post so far is by Laura Jane Ingham, Deputy Director, Global Fashion Network at British Vogue. I thought it was bold that she chose a maxi skirt, that is until I saw gorgeous ones in Khaite FW23 left and Proenza Schouler FW23 right.

  • My eye loves the maxi length!

  • Hi Preston, thank you for the link to the Khaite show, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love a long skirt and am also enjoying long wide pants, but several outfits looked like tripping hazards to me! What a joy to see the models slowly walking
so the entire outfit can be absorbed. Also loved the simplicity and ease of slicked back hair.

  • Patricia- Love the Khaite show and, I agree, the furry heeled mules are a tripping hazard.

  • I like the lines in the first outfit. This reminds me of the lines in some 1992 YSL gowns that I was looking at this morning. Just clean and harmonious proportions!

  • Patricia – you’re right on models walking slowly – what a difference!!! Nice to really see clothing lines and details. Hope more designers will follow suit. Loved Khaite from the beginning, some beautiful things – loving the leather topcoat – swoon! And, always a fan of a long, straight,, black maxi skirt. Thanks Preston for the great post!

  • One trait I look for in collections is what I describe as ‘friendliness.’ The Khaite ensembles and models appear stiff and uncomfortable. Longer hems are looking chic, especially denims, but real life offers fewer opportunities to wear them. It doesn’t appear to be a collection to be power worn. More and more, fashion designers are creating clothes that assume/require door-to-door transportation, which doesn’t align with the industry’s climate concerns. I can’t see a woman driving herself or ducking into a cab or walking in these pieces.

  • Agree with Paula on this one.

  • I loved the Khaite collection. I am not buying anything until I see Phoebe’s collection though.

  • I loved the Khaite show, too. Re. Phoebe, how many times can you catch lightening in a bottle? I hope she can, again.

  • We will see. I went into the office today and wore a gray Celine gray felt wrap skirt and a Khaite sweater. Lol!
