O April!
I ❤️ April— asparagus and rhubarb abound. Dumplings with asparagus and snap peas looks scrumptious and rhubarb compote is easy to make, keeps in the fridge, and is yummy on just about anything. I am eagerly awaiting Phaidon’s monograph on the brilliant Dutch landscape designer, Piet Oudolf, out April 12, and Curtis Sittenfeld’s new novel, Romantic Comedy, will be released Tuesday. A new pair of Belgian Shoes always puts a spring in my step and, even though it was released last September, I’m still loving “Burning” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I’ve always thought TS Eliot meant it’s the cruelest month for the sad and depressed. It’s awful to feel that way when life springs anew…
the Waste Land was always one of my favorites 😉
I just noticed this morning that the new Curtis Sittenfeld book was coming out tomorrow. I really enjoy her writing style. I guess April ( the month) is considered cruel, because it is such a tease weather-wise. Nice one day then back to winter-ish the next. I love this time of year, even with less than great weather. Anticipation is good.
Hi Preston,
May I ask which style of Belgian loafer that is? Thank you.
I love April and all the beautiful spring flowers. I was looking for rhubarb, asparagus and peas but no-one had them at the farmers market. Happy Good Friday and Easter just in case I forget!
