On My Radar

Bits & Bobs

It’s cool and crisp this morning following a spectacular Labor Day. If you watched the US Open yesterday, you know that it was a beautiful day in NYC. Here are few things on my radar: Elizabeth Strout’s, Tell Me Everything, is available September 10, and season 4 episode 1 of Slow Horses with Kristin Scott Thomas airs tonight. A camel skirt is a harbinger of fall, and these Bally Mary Jane Flats have a good toe shape. I’m excited to pull out my Celine boots — on Angelina Jolie above —  and get the season rolling.

:
  • Certainly not the same quality, but the Greta Mary Jane from Madewell has a very similar look to the Bally shoe, and is 1/5 the price. Will they last forever? No…but they are cute and comfortable enough for me to buy a second pair for backup.

  • Bits & Bobs always makes my day! I have not seen Slow Horses. Can’t wait for Strout’s new novel.

  • Can’t wait for Tell Me Everything. Slow Horses next up on the TV agenda and I would love to be thinking about Fall, but we’re going into our typical 100+ weather, for this time of year. Dreaming of November.

  • Nothing better than Bits & Bobs! I’m joining the Mary Jane club this season with the Tony Bianco Martinez Mary Jane flats. They are incredibly comfortable and a good price point for quality leather. Angelina’s short sleeve trench is chic. There are too many good books coming out, I had to start a list! I’m looking forward to Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty and The Life Impossible by Matt Haig. Marcheline Isabelle

  • I have a pair of the Bally ballerinas and love them. If anyone is looking, I got mine at Bloomingdales.com on sale during a promotion this June. I also love the fact that they have a 90 day return policy as well in case you have a hard time making up your mind like I do sometimes.

  • With a new silhouette (like a Mary Jane flat,), I think it’s very smart to find it in a price range that is more forgiving if you lose interest after a season or two. The thing about buying quality/expensive is, you have to really know what you like. No one needs the pain of an expensive mistake.
I would love to know the name of Ms.Scott Thomas’ ‘esthetician.’ She looks pretty fabulous.

  • Love Bits and Bobs, Preston!
KST looks stunning. I’m a flight attendant and my shoe collection consists of a ton of Mary-Jane’s-these Bally’s would be perfect with my trouser ensemble. As Sharon and Paula mentioned-Another option at a different price point and smart looking is the J Crew Layne Mary Jane in Croc embossed Italian leather. Has a block heel and Bally like toe box. Cute!
