Paris Dispatch
I’m in Paris, not for shows but to (sort of) look for an apartment. The weather in New York is abysmal, so it’s nice to not be there. While packing I convinced myself that it’s much cooler here than it is. So eager to wear sweaters and boots I rationalized that it’s in the 60s at night, which is true, however it’s high 70s during the day… My friend HC will give me flak because she knows I have questionable packing skills and encouraged me to start the process before the morning of my flight. She, also, kindly pointed out that the tall Celine boots I’m thinking of buying will be impossible to pack for the return trip (at least I’ll be able to squeeze in my favorite lip balm). Out of my overstuffed carry-on I’ve pretty much worn the same things for two days. Lesson learned.
Despite my packing idiocy, September is a gorgeous time to be here. This time of the year I’m endlessly inspired by the chic women (mothers and grandmothers) picking up their children from school. Today I’m going to check out Rouje and Mister K, two shops on my radar. Even though there is a recently opened Officine Générale shop in NYC, the prices here are significantly less. And, if the boots are a perfect fit, I’ll just figure out how to get them home.

This sounds like a beautiful time to be in Paris, packing be what it may! And it sounds like you may have a partner who can double team the return-flight packing with you. Enjoy exploring Rouje and Mister K.
As I read this I kept thinking maybe you can wear the boots, pick up a larger carry-on, or check a bag.

Sounds like you’re having a much needed and marvelous time! Agree w/RM and CB re: boots, as you said, if they fit you’ll find a way! As it’s fashion week and there are wild looks around, perhaps, w/padded clips you could attach and wear as a statement cape or peplum 😉 But, seriously, you’ll find a way if they’re right for you.

Hi! Hardly think rationalizing boots and sweaters is bad packing (at least I hope not lol) although listening to Heather is always a good idea. Sounds like a fun trip, enjoy all the hunting.
I had the opposite experience. When I left London eleven days ago for D.C. and NYC, the weather forecast was for good, slightly cool but sunny weather! Instead I spent most of my time in NY in rain puffas and sneakers! I ended up buying some merino wool sweaters from Banana Republic which were useful.

I agree … wear the boots on the way home! I am heading to Paris in November and would love to know if it is worth taking a field trip to Mister K and Rouje. Safe travels!
