NYFW SS25

There was no “WOW” moment for me this NYFW. I buy less from the Spring collections, which may be why I paid less attention to the shows in real time. Alaia showing in New York was a highlight, but I will not wear any of the looks. Still, it was a well needed shot in the arm for New York’s lagging status on the fashion world stage.

Toteme on the runway is much better suited for NY than Paris and I liked this collection a lot. The clothes are impactful here whereas they seemed underwhelming and lost amidst the Paris shows. This coat is stunning. And, I look forward to trying these Khaite red pumps with a wrapped ankle strap — they are quite chic.

Honestly, I am most excited for Milan this season.

  • You pulled some lovely images. I am partial to cream coats. Much as I like black, a cream coat is an easy lift in a winter sea of black coats. Pointed, deep red shoes are a good end to a monochrome outfit, too.

  • I’ve been a fan of Toteme and their simple esthetic for years I’m happy to see this collection was a bit lighter and more form fitting…

  • I cannot think of any area in which New York is not lagging status on the world stage.
For my taste, Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2025 Show was perfection. He presents a gentrified and civilized view of what fashion can and should be.
The soundtrack is beautiful and takes us back to what I believe was a better place for America. Mr. Lauren is a national treasure.
