Bits & Bobs
For me, time— and more specifically, time to read and hang with my family — is a true luxury. For the last two years my younger daughter and I have planned numerous trips, only to cancel at the last minute. We are going to London next week for a few days and, this time, I will not let life get in the way. I am looking forward to the Van Gogh exhibition at the National Gallery. The friend who encouraged me to start a journal gave me a beautiful watercolor set for Christmas. Delphine designer Tanya Taylor’s word portraits are my journaling goal. I want to pick up this travel watercolor set at the National Gallery shop so I can easily paint on the go. For the last few months I’ve been reading classics and I’m currently midway through Anthony Powell’s twelve-volume masterpiece, “A Dance to the Music of Time.” The next book in the queue — a relatively new release– is “A Northern Light in Provence”, a novel by Elizabeth Birkelund. My dear friend who recommended it said it’s a wonderful read. Another friend recommended “A World Within A World: The bay Houses of Long Island” to watch on the plane. ‘Tis the season to diligently moisturize and Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse in neroli makes it easy. It does double duty as my fragrance, too. Another shoutout for the extremely comfortable Bally pumps, this time in burgundy. They look just fine after a very rainy walk to the Riverkeeper fundraiser on the Hudson River the other evening. I am doing a Riverkeeper Sweep in May if anyone would like to join me. And, finally, this gold, past-season Bottega Veneta bag looks chic worn casually, not just for evening.
- Re. the Bally pumps purchased on the Bally site, if you are a 7.5, order a 7. If you buy them elsewhere, if you are a 7.5, buy the 37.5
I so love “Bits & Bobs” and try all of your recommendations!
Enjoy “Poets and Lovers” at the National Gallery. It is a brilliant and beautiful exhibition based on impressive scholarship.
I’m getting that book for sure! Thanks. Enjoy London!
LOVE the Bottega. I see that you noted it’s past season, but do you know the name of it? It’s not beneath me to track it down previously loved!
Love these bits and bobs, Preston. Enjoy your London trip!
Cherie, the BV style name is the Turn Pouch Intrecciato. Hope you track one down. It is a beautiful bag and especially in that color!
I’m was beginning to give up hope! Happy to see this post today!
Saw the Van Gogh exhibit in October, enjoy it! Also, did a small private tour of the gallery and we loved it!
Thank you, Gail P.!
So if I am an 8 (38), on the Bally website should I buy a 37.5?
Is there a mislabeling issue?
Yes
Thank you for the tip on buying the Bally loafers, which I have been looking at for a while, in 7 on the website — at a great discount. Love your site–so full of great ideas. Merry Christmas
Kate
I love your black jacket in the loafer photo! Is that Gucci?
The coat in this post is AW24 Celine. The peacoat in the previous post is AW19(ish) Celine. xp
