2025!
I am not sad to see 2024 come to a close. Too many commitments overwhelmed me and, thankfully, some are coming to an end. I, also, lost my way a bit with kic. However, the best thing I did in 2024 was to focus on my skin — the Biologique Recherche products and facials have made a noticeable difference. When a dear friend recommended the incredible Condensé line, I happily added these two to my skincare routine. I’m about to board a flight to Paris and the above moisturizer and Glossier perfume solid are in my handbag.

Well, I for one missed your usual posting schedule, and checked eagerly every day to see where you were 😉 But I can’t imagine the mental and physical energy required to keep up with a blog . Happy New Year to you, and have a lovely time in Paris. I have gone through a few Glossier solids and really like them for their subtlety and ease-of-use. Off to check out the Condense website …..
I hear you – i find im losing my way as a reader amidst the onslaught of substacks. But i love KIC and always make time for it when it appears in my inbox. Reminds me of your mother who told me about it years ago when i was visiting with her at the house behind Crystal Lake. Happy new year! Here’s to finding our ways as writers and readers!

I thought kic was absolutely wonderful this year with many posts that I return for reference from time to time. So glad you have the search feature. A testament to your site: even posts from several years back still look so fresh as today. You really help us find the lotus in the mud out there! A beautiful and happy new year to you.

Happiest New Year wishes to you, Preston, and to the lovely KIC community! Focusing on skin is always a good idea. I, too, was directed to Biologique Recherche this past year, and am very happy with it. That said, I can’t wait to discover Condense! Substack started out a good idea, but like so much out there, I found it too much information. 🙂
P.S. My favorite KIC New Year’s post was the image with the fabulous blue dress and the even more fabulous Tiffany diamond drop earrings and bracelet. It was just so simple and crisp, the perfect, polished evening look!

I’m also glad to hear I’m not the only one struggling to find the right mix of Substack content amidst all the newsletters and cross-referenced Instagram posts. Happy New Year, Preston! I am so thankful for your posts because I always learn something new, something fun and something useful. I love it that we love similar things too! I have been using BR products for close to ten years now, and love getting facials at Rescue which carries the line. When in Paris, spoil yourself with a treatment there, so worth it! Can’t wait for more posts!

Preston, every time I sit down to do something hard on my laptop (write, edit, pay bills), I go to Keep it Chic first for what I think of as “a treat.” Your judgment and taste are so sound: You know luxury and are practical. From you, I learned the phrase (I think this is right), to “tailor jewelry.” Because of you, I bought two dresses from Room 502 in Canada that I love—one I wore to my older son’s college graduation, and the other II wore to two different friends’ kids’ weddings (and will wear again to a third this summer). You have written movingly about both your parents. I appreciate your book recommendations and love that you keep a journal. l have a Substack and find it to be a fun and efficient way to reach readers, but it is true, there are a million of us writers churning out Substacks, and it is delightful to click on your site with ease and always find something there that is discerning, helpful, charming and new. And as a fellow graduate of a Seven Sisters college, I love that so many readers here seem to be thoughtful women.
