New Arrivals: Phoebe Philo

Phoebe Philo’s latest drop from the B Collection: great sandals that I will try in Paris later this week, and I love the gold hardware on this trifold clutch, the silver clasps on her other bags look cheap to my eye. I have a similar old Céline clutch that I wear all the time.

  • Cheers! Nice, minimalist picks. The shoes appear to be borrowed from a popular A. Emery style, right down to the heel shape. Just my two cents.

  • Shoes are not original, I agree with Tracey.

  • The straps remind me of my beloved Saint Laurent flat sandals – it’s why I want to try them.

  • Hi Preston,
I clicked on the link to your “old Celine clutch” and your posting on “reversing regrets” instantly resonated with me.
Normally I am a pretty measured and cautious shopper, taking time to make a significant purchase, but sometimes your heart doesn’t listen to reason and you are overwhelmed with passion for an item that may not be a practical addition to your wardrobe.
In my case it was a beautiful Valentino cocktail dress which I have never worn and probably never will and a collection of Hermes scarves, which I convinced myself would look good with the stash of cashmere I wear daily.
They still make my heart skip a beat, and I find myself looking at new Hermes scarves as possible purchases, in the basket they go but thankfully not the final press of the checkout button!
So I am resigned to looking at them as objects of beauty that were a bit of a “wake up call” to remind me to tread very carefully in these days of Instagram and all the other temptations of social media.
So to the point, I am also a bit of a “list” person and have often considered starting a notebook on my purchases, I would find that an absolute joy!
Can you share how you do this, as in do you use a particular notebook?
And back to the original posting, I think all of the above is beautiful and a reminder to care for the classic beauties you may have in your wardrobe.
The Hermes and the Phoebe collections are maybe beyond many budgets, but so inspirational, even if it’s just getting that Derby Grey cashmere out again and giving it a loving brush!
Thank you for all your content, nothing compares!

  • The bag looks like a remake on the old Celine trio.
