Bits & Bobs
It’s been in the 50s/60s in both NYC and Paris. I’ve been living in trim jeans, Ann Mashburn’s black knit Parker Jacket, a big scarf, and Chloe flats. A similar vibe to Barbara Martelo‘s outfit in the snap from 2019, except, I am carrying an Hermès Picotin.
Even when overcast I burn, and eltaMD has been my go-to sunblock for ages. However, I want to give Augustinus Bader’s Mineral Sunscreen a try.
Rose Abricoté is still my favorite Hermès Rosy lip enhancer shade.
In a brilliant move, Cartier made a hinged version of the classic Love Bracelet “for those who prefer to put it on and take it off by themselves.” Going through airport security will be a lot easier.
I bought the Toteme FW24 shearling knowing that I will wear it even more often next fall. Now I am considering a pair of Khaite boots and here for the same reason.
My new favorite spot to hideout is the Rose Bakery at Maison de Balzac in the 16th, it’s a hidden gem.
To further cement my expat tradwife status, I took a macaron workshop at the recently opened Cordon Bleu outpost at the Hôtel de la Marine — it was very fun. Tomorrow I will learn how to make eclairs.
Ta!

Have never been to the Maison Balzac–next time in Paris!!
This is the best, most comprehensive “Bits & Bobs” yet! I didn’t know Cartier made a hinged version of the Love. I am someone who wants to be able to take it off from time to time. The Hermes Rosy lip color is perfection. But best of all is you learning to make your beloved macaroons!
Love this post
Great picks! I love the Hermès Rosy lip glossy enhancer in Rose Confetti, so much I bought a backup.
For all of my adult life, I’ve struggled to describe what it is I do and gain some sort of status in our society. Turns out I’ve been a trad wife for 42 years! I love that at last I fit into a cool new category.
Just love the flat slingback in top photo – is it Chanel from seasons past? And a cooking class is an excellent idea! Send some recipes!
Fabulous Bits & Bobs.
Love Hermes Rose Apricot ~ wish you could get refills though.
Yes, Chanel slingback. I have them in black denim and they are very comfortable.
Everythiny about this post is perfect. Loved it.
I discovered the cafe at Balzac’s home a little while ago; very bemused by all the boiled eggs but apparently he loved them and fortunately so do I! The views from the garden are incredible.
Hi Preston ,
Please tell how the Ann Mashburn jacket fits? Size ?
When I saw it was 100% wool, I paid attention !
Lovely cut . Is there a pic of you wearing it at all?
Thanks
Jo
