A Silk Dress
At lunch last week with two of my dearest friends we raved about Sonia Purnell’s biography of Pamela Harriman, Kingmaker. This led to Pamela’s personal style and her love of silk dresses β I’ve been searching for a new silk dress like the one I bought at A.P.C. Surplus. Soon after, I spied Aerin Lauder in an Oscar de la Renta, and another very chic and dear friend in a stunning green LK Bennett dress. Gucci has a few nice silk dresses, too. Sabato De Sarno may have hit the right note after all…
The hunt is on.
Last September I found a brown and white geometric pattern Ralph Lauren shirt dress in silk. Itβs perfect for transition season city dressing, day-to-evening! Nothing packs like silk!
Coming back around and commenting on my own comment here . . . π
There’s a lot to like about this photo. It carries that fantastic, dignified Celine look and mood that was visible in the Spring 2025 show you linked us to a month or so back. The Celine settings always compliment the looks and vice-versa! And that brings me back to the spirited conversation about how we present ourselves in public and how our cities ‘present themselves’ to us. An elevated day/late day dress and chic brown loafers will improve any situation.
A question about styling a short sleeve, silk midi dress for summer in the city. Often cool at night. Restaurants tend to be highly aircondioned. What to wear? Blazer? Sweater?
cardigan over my shoulders.
