A Big Skirt

On Thursday I caught the first flight back to NYC from Paris to hear the brilliant writer André Aciman talk about his book, Room on the Sea: Three Novellas. Afterwards, I had lunch with an extremely chic friend who was wearing a midi-length skirt with a bit of volume. We are the same height, which made me think, if she can wear and look so sensational in the silhouette, then I should give it a try. The ideal is this skirt and top from The Row’s Summer 2026 collection left. However, until they are available next spring, I cobbled together a look with a skirt and top I already own. I’m wearing a Splendid turtleneck above.
Thanks for the inspiration Dorrit M!

I love this look I have a few from Dries from years ago. A classic look and very chic.
Preston dear this is my absolute favorite look I have worn forever . I have a mid calf circle skirt from The Row from several years ago. I wear it with a white shirt tucked in and a very wide Alaia belt, and of course my pearls . It is what I feel best in . When The Row showed it last week in Paris I was thrilled .

The Row skirt is a very flattering design, with a waistband, then a yoke and then the circle skirt aspect-it really minimizes fabric at the waist and upper hip area, as opposed to a gathered skirt or even a regular circle skirt. It’s very elegant. And there seem to be pockets, which I always love.
Such an elegant look. Wish I had 25” waist to pull that off!
This silhouette is gorgeous and I love your adaptation. When our daughter was married, I was fortunate to find a Dior dress with a beautiful full skirt and fitted waist. It was perfection, and up to the occasion in every way. A classic, feminine silhouette is not only beautiful, but also empowering.
Lovely to hear from you Preston – you were missed!
This was one of my favorite looks from The Row’s show. To echo others here – I love a full black skirt w/nipped in waist (especially for summer) paired with a great white shirt. It also reminded me of a McQueen skirt from a few seasons back.
Thank you for everything you do, it is appreciated 🙂
