London Calling

The title of this post is far from original, but it neatly captures how much I long to spend more time in London. I was in London for a day last month and cannot wait to return in December to see The Cherry Orchard with Kristin Scott Thomas, The 90s: Art and Fashion at the Tate, and The Bayeux Tapestry.
The Gloverall duffle in beige is a keeper, so I bought it in grey as well. Yes, I should have bought them last month while I was there, but I didn’t want to lug them to Scotland, then home.
I will also stock up on Norfolk Natural Living candles in the heavenly Geranium & Tomato Leaf scent.
:

True grace makes a heavenly tomato scent and is London based. I believe the girls at Summerhill and bishop carries them.
London is always a good idea! Would love to see the Cherry Orchard
I love the energy of London. It feels like a slightly toned down and more well mannered New York. I live for a duffle coat. I went all out preppy and bought it in yellow. My classically dark and broody outerwear wardrobe needed a little shake up.
Hi..I’m going to London 10/19 have t been for a very long time ..we have tix to all the above but I was wondering if you have any great “musts” etc! Also I’m a friend of Susan kaufman..she always speaks of you ..Thanks so much.. Susan
From a local Londoner, I would recommend the Dorian group of restaurants if you are a fish eater. Cafe Clemente (ex River Cafe chef). For clothing, I love Varley sportswear. Me&Em have gotten really good in the last couple of years. Both are well priced. Standard of Living play about Keynes. Salman Toor at the Courtauld and Renoir at the National Gallery. Churchill War rooms if you are a history buff and plan a couple of hours there.
For Susan ~ this may sound strange, but I think planning ahead for wonderful cocktail stops is as important as anything else to experience and understand the cultural history of one of the world’s greatest cities. London has fabulous pubs/bars with glamorous history. Duke’s, The Connaught, and the American Bar at The Savoy are classics and remain British. My favorite stretch for home and antique shopping is Pimlico Road.
I love London and go regularly to study. Next class is illuminated manuscripts inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry. Terrible weather for a Southerner, but the city and the school are fabulous. Thank you for the tips, now on my November “to do” list.
