Scent Search

Thanks to comments from SueM and Susan, I’m off to do some perfume exploration. I have an appointment today at Scent Bar to try a few of the above.

:
  • Ah Carthusia- I love Mediterraneo!

    BeccaApril 5th, 2021  7:17 AM

  • I still love Doirissimo!

    LisaApril 5th, 2021  8:08 AM

  • Fallowing.
A few of the pictured fragrances are unisex.
I have Bal D’Afrique and it is very nice. It is an aromatic citrus.
Can’t wait to read the suggestions.

  • Please look into the brand, Jo Loves, by Jo Malone.
Jo came up with this line, years after she left her original iconic brand, now owned by Lauder.
I brought home a lot of her scents, when I was in London.
    Consider trying, Pomelo, or Jo.
The Green Orange and Coriander is beautiful, as well.
Jo wrote her autobiography, which I think you would enjoy. Fascinating.

  • I really like Baccarat rouge 540!

    Michelle SApril 5th, 2021  8:38 AM

  • Exciting!
Can’t wait to hear all about it!

    SusanApril 5th, 2021  9:30 AM

  • All the above perfumes sound lovely but one of my go to favourites for summer is Pamplemousse Rose by Hermes.

    JeanetteApril 5th, 2021  9:49 AM

  • Your adventure at the scent bar sounds wonderful!
Hope you don’t get olfactory fatigue.
    Can’t wait to hear results.

  • They carry Lubins gin fizz which was Grace Kelly’s fragrance and very hard to find

    Jennifer AllisonApril 5th, 2021  9:56 AM

  • Would love to hear if you found any sophisticated all-natural, non-synthetic aromatic-based parfums. So many of us (seasoned ladies) cannot tolerate the synthetics anymore, therefore rendering our favorites unwearable…somewhat depressing. Nothing sweet, simply crisp and fresh, yet alluring.

    Jean Louise LillyApril 5th, 2021  11:01 AM

  • Oh Preston, so excited for you! Hope you enjoy the whole experience ❤️

    SueMApril 5th, 2021  11:28 AM

  • This is like a travel adventure! Regardless which is the favorite fragrance, any one of these beautiful bottles would look gorgeous on the vanity or a pretty little side table in the bath or bedroom!

    PaulaApril 5th, 2021  11:32 AM

  • Has any one tried the Michelle Pfeiffer, Henry Rose fragrances? They are supposed to be a transparent brand, free of all sorts of things. I am also curious about the new Diptyque fragrance, Orphéon? One thing, I do appreciate if you order from Diptyque directly, they will send you a sample of the fragrance so you can test the scent before opening the packaging of the bottle.

  • I love Jardin Sur Le Nil by Hermes and it always garners a lot of compliments. It is a delicate, fresh scent and perfect for Spring/Summer. Very classic and timeless. Enjoy your scent search.

    AmyApril 5th, 2021  12:37 PM

  • I am Creed girl through and through Imperatrice Eugenie is my signature scent.
Recently, I was introduced to Federic Malle Lys Méditerranée & Carnal Flower …and am obsessed. Would love to hear what you find for summer!

    MelissaApril 5th, 2021  12:47 PM

  • I also used to wear Hermns Jardin Sur le Nil. Have to get another bottle.
I did the whole fragrance profile at Nose in Paris and it opened me up to several new possibilities.
I’ve always like the idea of bal d’afrique and Byredo makes my favorite candle (Bohemia) but Ive never had a fragrance turn on my skin quite so much!

  • Guerlain girl here! Have worn Shalimar,L’Heure Bleue and Mitsouko- but am wearing Insolence now and always get scads of compliments whether I’m wearing the eau de toilette or the parfum.

  • Love all of the recommendations! Bought Carthusia Mediterraneo and could not be happier. I wore the Fiori di Capri years ago, but the Mediterraneo really suits me. I want a few new scents and have samples galore coming in. Very fun project and something as small as a new fragrance brings a lot of joy.

    PrestonApril 5th, 2021  5:33 PM

  • I’m sure I’m not the only one here, but my memory is as vivid now as it was when I visited the little Carthusia perfumery in that little botanical garden on Capri! Talk about a heady experience- the beauty and simplicity of it all was simply overwhelming. Fragrance really transports us – even something as simple as freshly cut grass – it’s so important.

  • Karen, I just purchased the sample pack of Henry Rose and I am very impressed. Lovely scents that one can mix and layer. I appreciate that their perfumes are “clean”/non-toxic; they can be purchased as a sample pack of all seven fragrances that comes with a coupon for a discount on a full-size fragrance; and the full size perfumes are available in spray and roll-on.

  • replying toJean Louise Lilly and Karen, I have the Henry Rose perfume in Jacks house and it’s really great.
it is a light, refreshing, interesting smell and it has a good staying power. No synthetics, no headaches:) My problem is that i am always looking for the next scent so as of now Carnal flower is my go to signature scent but I am looking for something new

  • The Bal D’Afrique smells so good but it’s strong to me. I like the kabuki powder form since it’s lighter.

    TracyApril 6th, 2021  11:01 AM

  • Since my first pregnancy, I’ve only worn non-synthetic, natural fragrances. The fragrance industry is so opaque and poorly regulated… I have Jake’s House from Henry Rose – very light and fresh and good for summer.
I also love 1509 by Sophia Matthias. It’s a very beautiful amber scent – people have chased me down the street to ask about it (pre-covid when we didn’t wear masks!)
You can find it here: https://home-coming.com/products/1509-sophia-scent

  • Your comment section never ceases to amaze me, I love this community you’ve built. My signature scent is the original Chloe Eau de Parfum. I wear it year round and cannot start my day without it. I stock up whenever it goes on sale and have various size bottles: largest one for home, mid-size for travel, roller ball in my purse… Cannot wait to hear what you think of your incoming samples.

    MichelleApril 6th, 2021  1:26 PM

  • I just ordered the sample package from Henry Rose. Unfortunately, perfumes often give me a migraine (common trigger) – but I’m hoping these don’t, or one of them that I like doesn’t…..

  • I love Escentric Molecules 01 scent. It is a real addition to your perfume collection. It can be sprayed over any of your favorite perfume, as a topper, and it enhances it scent and actually y makes it come to life in a new way. It is really amazing by itself. A very fresh and unique scent. A game changer!

  • I just used a spritz of my Diorissimo this morning.I have loved for such a long time. Sometimes it will sit in my vanity for a long time and then I will start using it again. It has a sweet useful scent but it does not linger. My Mother gave me a bottle of Joe Malone Orange Blossom. That is a great standby fragrance. I can’t wait to hear your recommendations.

  • London based Perfumer H also has beautiful, natural scents that are thoughtfully packaged. The bottles come with travel sized vials and a dropper for filling the travel vials.

    LindaApril 7th, 2021  1:13 PM

  • I have a Perfumer H perfume and it is incredible. Love Lyn Harris, she is brilliant and I’ve posted on her a few times.

    PrestonApril 7th, 2021  2:28 PM

  • I love Coromandel from Chanel. Bal d’Afrique is also great. Light and feminine. The exclusive perfumes from Dior are amazing as well. Purple Oud is my favourite.

  • I love and will never go back to wearing any other perfume after finding “1977” it’s pure perfume oil. A lady in Michigan makes it. I purchase it directly from her. I’ve asked her why not sell it online and she simply says…I made this oil to calm my soul from the corporate world. I had and still have no intentions in making this a “Corporate Perfume Oil”
She’s amazing! and her oil is heavenly!
