Fall Reads
I didn’t read as much as I’d hoped this summer and plan on catching up in the fall. Top of my list are Charlotte Perriand: The Modern Life, Sally Rooney’s third novel Beautiful World, Where Are You out Tuesday, and Modern Manners by The Gentlewoman available in the U.S. October 6.
:
Been reading almost exclusively escapist fare this summer so these are some fantastic ideas, thank you. Especially intrigued by Modern Manners as the contributors are so interesting and varied.
❤️ The Gentlewoman. Always look forward to this semi annual.
I know nothing about the book, but the title, ‘Beautiful World, Where Are You?’ has taken the words right out of my mouth. Not to sound too negative, but I can’t remember a time in my life when I’ve been more disappointed in how people look and are behaving. From the top down. Thanks for a little chic spot each day, Preston!
Paula, well said as usual. Couldn’t agree more.
Dear Paula, you read in my (and not only) mind…Where are you, beautiful world? Such a shame that no matter where I am, difficult to find the good, old, universal, classic beauty. Warmest regards from Vienna! Just had a chance to look at young generation starting school on September 6th and seeing this what I looked at, could shout even louder this question…
I always love your book recommendations, Preston. Spending the majority of August at the beach allowed me to put a rather large dent into my book list. A few highlights: We Are The Brennans, The People We Keep, The President’s Daughter, The Guncle, The Best of Friends and The Good Daughters. Beautiful World, Where Are You is next on my list and I’m very excited.
