About wearing socks with kitten heels: I don’t know if that would work for me,
but, I do remember seeing that look many years ago in W and thinking how outré it seemed;
but now my eye is used to it and I actually like it.

Perfect! I especially love the position of the heel.
No danger of too many posts on kitten heels! My love of the shoe started low those many years ago with the Manolo Blahnik Carolyne, which I continue to wear in calf, patent, and peau de soie. I was very lucky to find a black suede Prada, very simple classic pump without their usual logo clutter, and most recently J’Adior, about the most fun shoe to wear I’ve ever worn!
