On My Mind

Last Winter Weekend – Whoop Whoop!

This Monday is the first day of spring and, even though it snowed here last Tuesday, the temps are hovering in the 50s and spring feels imminent. To celebrate, I’m swapping my dark polish for a pale shade, taking stock of my spring shoes (like my beloved Dior pumps above) and any that need a little TLC will go to Leather Spa, and starting a new book, Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano — all the reviewers raved.

Happy weekend, everyone!

  • I’ve heard great things about the book and you just reminded me to order it. Thanks. No sign of spring in Ojai – so cold and more rain than I’ve ever been in. But hopefully a green and fire free summer!

  • Looking forward to reading the books you’ve mentioned. Slowly I am catching up. I just finished What Shall I Wear? by Claire McCardell, which was a fun read.

  • Morning!
    Are the Dior pumps new?
    Super cute.
    Thanks!

  • The Dior pumps are from the Pre-Fall 2020 collection that was unfortunately in stores during lockdown. I have a black kitten heel version, as well.

  • Thank you for the shoe reconditioning and repair idea, and link. I have an older Prada sling back that I love so much but they need some TLC. Every time I do a purge, I hold onto that old Prada slingback because it is beautiful, unusual and the color is perfect.
And, every book you have ever recommended I have loved! So “Hello Beautiful” will go on my list! Thank you!

  • Thank you for this round up, Preston. This book looks like a memorable read. Happy almost spring, too! My husband brought home apricot jam, and it always reminds me of a particular childhood weekend, when I ate the most perfect apricots as I wandered around in the sun. Here’s to warmer days.

  • Well I’m crawling out from under my third cold since November and it’s pretty chilly here but I’m also leaning into spring and I think I can smell it. Those are delicious shoes and thanks for the book recommendation.
