Down-To-Earth
I can’t think of a better way to spend Earth Day than working in the garden. As we head into our fourth summer stewarding this property, it’s rewarding to see plantings maturing. This weekend we are taking stock of what’s thriving and, more importantly, what’s not. Next week I’m going to hear famed landscape designer Edwina von Gal speak about sustainable and natural design — she is one of my garden heroes. In a few years I would like to commission artist Leslie Wortmann to capture our hard work. Above are the perfect gifts for fellow gardeners: Sophie Conran tools for Burgon & Ball (here in the US), a wooden trug, slate plant markers, and the seed packets from Hudson Valley Seed Co. are mini works of art.
Happy Earth Day!

Highly recommend the wooden trug – it’s sturdy, well constructed and very functional.
Mine is over 40 years old and still going strong.
Happy Earth Day to all!
Edwina!
What beautiful landscapes Leslie Wortmann paints! A fantastic goal to have her paint your property when it’s ready.
I’m going to curtail much of my annual container making this year and have fewer veg. All the big pots and tropicals have irrigation now but hoping to split our time here and up north. It’s an adjustment but gardening is so like that don’t you think? Experimenting, culling, learning, adjusting.
