Bits & Bobs
Now that I’ve stopped equating September with going back to school, I fully embrace and get excited for the new season. The Njideka Akunyili Crosby: Coming Back to See Through, Again exhibition at David Zwirner NYC September 14 tops my must-see list. North Star, Kristin Scott Thomas’s directorial debut, has a release date of September 7. The film is about three sisters who return home for their mother’s third wedding. I love blazers, however, the oversized trend the past few seasons overwhelmed me. When I spied Chloë Sevigny in a belted blazer opening the FW23 Proenza Schouler show I did a little jig. Ann Mashburn’s Parker blazer is my nod to the cinched-waist comeback. This stunning Des_Phemmes skirt reminded me that I only wore my Commission sequined skirt once last winter. I’m inspired by a Copenhagen Fashion Week show-goer who wore it casually for daytime. Weirdly, it’s a forever piece.

September is my favorite month for a multitude of reasons. This year, Phoebe Philo tops the list. I am loving the belted blazer “trend” and think if done right, it can be timeless. I can’t stop staring at Scar Jo’s flawless skin in the photo above. Love that sequined skirt for daytime! Marcheline Isabelle
When I selected a black Dior Bar Jacket a couple of years ago, the very capable sales associate quickly suggested a slim belt to wear with it. Small and discreet, it has an ‘antique’ gold logo. I’ve rarely worn the jacket without it. My vote would be for belts and gloves with everything.
Njideka Akunyili Crosby:Coming Back to See was the premiere exhibition at Zwirner’s LA branch this May. It’s a breathtaking show!
