Spectacular Coats
This season I’ve thrown a Max Mara parka or ancient wool duffel coat over my sequined Commission skirt holiday party outfit. However, the Valentino PF24 coat left and the Chanel Métiers d’Art right make me want a spectacular coat that is as important as the outfit underneath.

While Chanel is not always my personal style, I think the cut on this coat is absolutely beautiful. Both coats would be happy additions to holiday outfits. These coats could get all kinds of wear outside the holiday circle, too!
In college I worked in a new and used clothing store, just over the border from Washington, DC. We had a very eclectic crowd, and I’ll never forget one fabulous woman who came in with a colllllection of coats to sell. Marni, Dries, Valentino, etc. We’d always chat with customers, and I’ll never forget what she said when we commented on the number of coats- once it gets cold, the first and last thing someone will see is your coat- why not make it amazing?
I do love a beautiful dress coat and the ones that you have pictured are wonderful!- (although not so warm in cold weather). For winter temps under freezing, I like fur (vintage mink) or shearling, both of which are warm and gorgeous. I have been wanting a boucle Chanel coat as shown on the runway a couple of years ago; these were maxi length with long side slits.
