Scottish Countryside Inspired at Chanel

Lots of tweed, thick over-the-knee socks, and nubby this-and-that in the Chanel FW22 collection shown today. With Scotland as the inspiration and the runway designed to represent the River Tweed, the colors are sublime.

Miu Miu: Belts!

Single or double (with 2 rows of loops), belts were the star of the FW22 Miu Miu show.

Louis Vuitton: Boots, Bags, & Sneakers

I texted my friend attending the Louis Vuitton FW22 show and asked her to steal the red boots for me. Actually, when I cast the LV show there were security guards backstage because folks would walk off with all sorts of stuff. But, I digress — the boots, bags, and sneakers are beyond fantastic and top my FW22 wish list.

Beige Days Ahead

I need to shelve my black parka asap and get back into beige, tan, khaki, and cream. I’m currently figuring out how to style the Khaite Sukey harness bottom left — Leonie Hanne nailed it with the leather pants and trench. I, also, have it in black, which I’ll most likely layer over a black dress.

Hermès

Lots of beautiful clothes in the Hermès FW22 collection. The olive and brown looks are my favorite passage in this subdued show. Hermès has temporarily closed all of its Russian stores — bravo!

Saint Laurent: Breathtaking

The sensational Saint Laurent FW22 show took my breath away. The first time in a long time that I wish I’d been in the audience.  The venue alone makes the film a must-watch. I’m currently atop a beautiful mountain and cannot wait to read the reviews tonight.

Jil Sander

Nicole Phelps’ review of the Jil Sander FW22 collection for Vogue is spot-on —  “(i)n a season when designers are targeting Gen-Z, Jil Sander’s Lucie and Luke Meier made clothes for grown-ups.”  Many of the looks have a decidedly ’60s vibe, which in the Meiers’ hands is not overdone. The three floor-length guipure lace dresses are standouts. This elegant collection is worth a look.

Random Reads

I’ve been reading A LOT, which is good because I’m working my way through numerous stacks of books. Above are a few random titles on my waning-days-of-winter list: The recently released Entertaining in Style: Nancy Astor and Nancy Lancaster looks amazing and not just another ho-hum guide to tablescapes and floral arrangements. A longtime i-D magazine fan, i-D: Wink and Smile!: The First Forty Years is out April 5. Lucy Foley’s new novel, The Paris Apartment, is most likely a fun read. And, my friend Dina learned of photographer Christy Bush’s book, Familiar, on The English Room and sent me the link – right up my alley.

Prada FW22

The Prada FW22 show had a Depeche Mode soundtrack, 5-star casting, and Guido Palau’s divine hair — bravo. The white turtlenecks seemingly attached to crewneck sweaters and multi-tiered skirts were the highlights of the collection for me.

Terry Time

Now that I’m kitted out for skiing, I’m turning my eye to warm-weather wear. I have a terrycloth wrap skirt — a beloved beach cover-up from the last century — that is begging to be retired.  So, it was kismet when I spied this Terry skirt — a perfect replacement, and then some. The A Emery + Matteau sandals are really nice, and nicely priced, too.
