Spring Staple: Marfa Stance
Writer Camille Freestone is spot-on when she says in her Coveteur story on transitional dressing ‘(i)t’s that time of year when the weather in a single day can effectively span all four seasons.” Yes, indeed. Last September I wrote about the trench and liner I bought from Marfa Stance, the line of multi-functional and seasonless pieces designed to work together. These pieces are meant to be layered and thus ideal for transitional dressing. I wore the trench with and without the liner multiple times, but wasn’t wearing the liner solo — it was way too boxy. So, I took it to my beloved tailor and she put elastic in the back to give it some shape. Now I wear it all the time. And the best part? It’s reversible, a true win-win.

This is brilliant! What a great idea to get real use out of it for you. It snowed here yesterday and looks to be rainy and warm this weekend, here’s to spring.
Great solution. I own the vest and have had the same frustration. How did the tailor add elastic so that you have a nipped waist, not have the elastic show, and still have the vest be reversible?
There is piping that bisects the coat and she put it in there.
Hi~When did you find the trench coat? Love the concept! Thanks
There is a link to the earlier post when I bought the trench.
I was in Rome and London for a total of 7 days and I packed a lightweight JCrew black puffer jacket. It was perfect! All for packing light and traveling short, just like Preston!
