Paris Dispatch
As I wrote last year: Paris in January is great — no crowds and the city feels intimate and relaxed. It was frigidly cold, but no more so than NYC. I took the Max Mara Cube vest and parka, both pack down to nothing and were toasty. This was a long overdue mother-daughter trip. We stayed at Chateau Voltaire, roamed the quiet city, and found the Chanel Ballet Flats in her size. I couldn’t resist the camellia embossed denim slingbacks, they’ll be great with jeans come spring. Artist Léon Comerre’s 1903 painting of his daughter Géo hangs in the Petit Palais. Her blouse and skirt are timeless and I would happily wear them today. Jeanne Damas’s new book La Vie En Rouje was released this morning in France, however, I got back to New York last night. It will be available here March 1. Guerlain’s newly launched fragrance Aqua Allegoria in Nerolia Vetiver smells divine and I appreciate that the beautiful bottles are refillable. Finally, Louis Vuitton will open its first branded hotel on the Champs-Elyseés, and while under construction the building is wrapped as an LV trunk. It is something to behold.

Lots of inspiration! What will LV do with the trunk?
Oh I love that parka you’re wearing in the photo…is that the MaxMara?
Yes, it is Max Mara. Never thought I could love a parka this much…
Love the Louis Vuitton photo of the building wrapped. Classic.
I adore your new shoes – so great with jeans!
Which parka I are you wearing in the picture?l Love!
Hi – Could you please tell us specifically which Max Mara jacket that is? Many thanks for your years of wonderful suggestions!
Hi, the parka is a Max Mara The Cube Model Number: 2394860536600 I bought it early fall. It is unbelievably lightweight and warm.
Flying over tonight with my Mom! Sounds like a magical trip for you and your daughter! Enjoy!
Loving your shoe purchase
Sounds like a delightful week! I have made trips to Paris in December and February, and I can’t recommend it enough! It’s never as cold as it is at home, it’s a treat to see all of the beautiful outerwear, boots, and gloves on the streets, and I especially love seeing the architecture and streets without trees leafed out. Paris is dreamy in the low light of winter. The patisserie and chocolat shops go all out for Valentine’s Day! Off season has become my favorite time to travel.
That parka looks so good! Love the photos, thank you for sharing the one of the LV building and also the hotel recommendation. Last time I went was in August (against the advice of all my friends who’d been) and it was a bit of a horror show. Off peak sounds wonderful and so glad your daughter had a good time too.
Love off-season Paris. Sounds like a lovely trip!
