A Fine Wine: Bottega’s Barolo

Bottega Veneta’s accessories in a deep red aka Barolo are incredibly chic. Both women above were photographed entering the the FW23 show on Saturday in Milan carrying the house’s signature Foulard bags — woven Foulard and smooth calf Foulard.  Mostra Mary-Jane pump in cherry. I’m champing at the bit for my burgundy Saint Laurent bag to come in so I can wear it now.

Did you notice Mrs. Prada’s pants when she took her bow? So chic.

  • This color is fantastic. I keep hoping Gucci will make Jordaans in this. I’d love to have a Kelly this color, too.

  • fyi, the links to the smooth foulard and to Ms. Prada’s pants don’t work correctly. Thank you!

  • I have to Gucci Brixton in Burgundy. There a few years old & may be difficult to find. Burgundy is a fabulous neutral ~ an alternative the cognac color. Another beautiful burgundy bag is Celine’s leather Cabas tote. It’s my favorite bag and similar to the Saint Laurent that Preston likes. But regrettably Celine has retired that style but I occasionally see it on The Real Real.

  • In my young adult years, I used to buy one decent leather bag a year, and it was always deep wine. I felt like it went with everything and also from day to night. I loved the BV clutch in wine that Lauren Hutton carried in American Gigolo, but never bought it because it wasn’t practical for me. My fall bag purchase will be a bag that’s this color. Love the YSL hobo Preston!

  • I failed to follow your advice and I #overpurged – sold a burgundy Chanel flap that I really wish I’d kept. Will need to look for a replacement. BV seems like a good place to start!
