Phoebe Philo A1: A Wrap Skirt

Wrap skirts are my thing. Two of my most cherished are Céline circa 2014, and one of them is most likely the prototype for the Phoebe Philo A1 skirt above. I’m in Paris for the week working from the hotel Chateau Voltaire aka my Paris ‘home’ this past year. Certainly dampens any urgency to find an apartment, but that’s for another post. Yesterday Phoebe Philo dropped A1, new styles along with a delivery of continued pieces from her debut collection. The email alert came in at 11:04 PM my time. Because I’m still on NY time, I saw it and immediately scrolled through the new offerings. At first glance, I didn’t see anything I wanted. But after chatting with @fastened2fashion I locked in on the Scarf Skirt and could not check out fast enough.  This is what I meant in a post last August when I wrote ‘(h)ere’s hoping Ms. Philo continues to design clothes that elicit such joy.’ Joy, indeed.

  • Ha! Saw this skirt and thought of you Hope it’s a keeper. Lucky you in Paris. Recently returned from a lovely stay in Paris… a decade since my last visit. Paris has given me so many happy memories, although, my first visit didn’t win me over as it was competing with Italy

  • Sad update to my Philo order experience. I found the clothes to be extremely oversized to the point where the items I purchased were unwearable for a petite frame. Also my returns process has been very long and I had a delivery delay due to the company not providing DHL with shipping info so my order day in customs for a week. Sadly at this price point their return customer service is not at the level it should be.

  • This skirt does look pretty. It’s nice to hear you are enjoying Paris! I arrive there tomorrow morning, and although the Van Gogh exhibit is sold out, am looking forward to seeing the Rothko and Modigliani ones. Please keep us posted on your shopping in Paris!

  • Paris is fabulous this rime of year!
I’m interested in another post when you receive the skirt! It looks as if the edges are not finished and I assume it is not lined so to my eye, it looks quite simple and I find it difficult to justify the price. I’m a pencil skirt or pleated skirt woman-and I like linings as these help wool keep its shape. I’m still looking for the perfect grey cashmere skirt…

    Thanks!

  • The Phoebe Philo skirt? It is exquisite. The cut and fabric – 100% cashmere and wool – are beautiful. It does run a tad large.
