An ancient pair of beloved leather leggings with stretched out knees are atop my things-to-replace pile. I keep trying other shapes — straight-leg and track style — but a simple legging is best on me and for how I wear them.
My friend Karene, The Row’s fit model for years, has a number of leather pants and The Row’s Moto Stretch-Leather Leggings are her favorite. “They are part of the Essentials line that you can find year-round along with certain sweaters and T-shirts. The Row are very on top of their fit so you know if you reorder a pant you will get the same thing even 2 years later.” — a concept I love.
The Row’s leggings, which never go on sale, are marked down at Barneys.

My husband asked if I have anything on my Christmas list and I sent him links to these three books. Creative director Fabien Baron’s career retrospective Fabien Baron: 1983 – 2019 and Holiday: The Best Travel Magazine that Ever Was by Pamela Fiori are out now and Mary Russell’s Entre Nous: Bohemian Chic in the 1960s and 1970s: A Photo Memoir will be available March 10, 2020. When I was at Harper’s Bazaar Fiori was editor in chief of Town & Country and I pitched her a T&C family supplement – even though the president of Hearst loved the idea, Fiori dismissed it and I’m glad she did. Soon after, I left Bazaar to start my own business so I could spend more time with my young daughters. I never looked back.
Stuffed mushrooms, cheese and crackers, dips– not this holiday season. I want to shake up my hors d’oeuvre repertoire and am inspired by Daniel Boulud’s mini smorgasbord in an old Elle Decor. The famous chef lived in Denmark for three years in the late 1970s and shared his favorite Scandinavian recipes. Skol!
Up To 50% off
I cover every The Row show and love their clothes — but I only own two dresses and a sweater. So, when NET-A-PORTER reached out to me about the FW19 sale, which launched this morning, I thought this is the time add some The Row pieces to my wardrobe. Many designers are up to 50% off and the sale runs from today until 12/08 — Happy shopping!
Trench, pants, Khaite clutch, Common Projects sneakers.
Blouse, pants, Khaite clutch, Adidas sneakers.
Taffeta dress, Saint Laurent clutch, Rebecca de Ravenel earrings, Givenchy velvet dress, and Prada slingback.
There is a write-in section at the bottom of the 2019 International Best Dressed List poll. I added Amanda Ross Bacon, her style inspires me to take it up a notch — especially for evening events. I love that she and Charlotte Casiraghi (who is on the ballot) dress up grey and navy. Chic.
I was surprised to see the MATCHESFASHION sale launch yesterday, it usually starts after the US sales have begun. No complaints, there are a lot of fab wardrobe staples to be had.
Pant, cable sweater, grey sweater (which I own and love), leather coat, loafer.
On My Radar
After years of hibernation, Coldplay released two tracks from their upcoming eighth album Everyday Life — ‘Arabesque’ is on repeat. And I cover my ears when conversation invariably turns to ‘Marriage Story’ and ‘Parasite’ — I may do a doubleheader.
On My Mind
Each fall I buy one fashion-forward item and wear it to death with my carefully built wardrobe of classic and minimalist evergreen pieces. However, I didn’t this year and I’m regretting it. I bought loafers, a peacoat, and Fair Isle sweaters aplenty, but nothing with a wow factor. These Bottega Veneta mesh pumps would’ve been fabulous with a simple Prada dress I wore the other evening — I think I whiffed it this year.
On My Inspiration Board
I love every shade here and they’d be great all together. Thanks @suzannekoller, @valerieleberichel and @thefashionguitar

It Items From NET-A-PORTER
I’ve been hunting for a grey satin slip dress to wear under an oversized sweater like this one by Iro, but I’m going to give this Joseph skirt a try because I want to be able to tuck in a T-shirt in the summer. And, these AGOLDE grey jeans are on their way to be tried, too. Common Projects Achilles are my favorite sneakers — in cream makes me swoon. A Khaite clutch takes this look up a notch.
