I have a soft spot for the Gucci horsebit, always have. In the late ’90s/early ’00s, the low-heeled horsebit pump was my signature shoe. When I posted on the new iteration last March, a friend emailed that she’d tracked down every color and attested to the shoe’s comfort. The hybrid T-bar horsebit loafers are an interesting twist, and I’m sure they are uber comfortable, as well.

On My Radar

Hiking boots are my winter go-to and seriously stompy boots, like the ones on GP from a GOOP guide to winter layers, are growing on me. Well-loved totes never get old. I’m back on the hunt for leather pants and this picture of Géraldine Saglio from Vogue France is (still) my inspiration. And, Chanel launched a clean and sustainably sourced beauty line, No. 1 de Chanel — I’m all in.
On My Mind

Just a few hours ago I was boarding a teeny tiny plane atop a mountain in New Hampshire. The windchill was below zero and I was thankful for a head-hugging bonnet and down sweater. With my back to the wind I was fine. But, my mind did wander to thoughts of warmer weather. This SS22 Hermès look is the light at the end of the winter tunnel.

If there’s one thing I’m certain of, it’s that 2021 was far better than 2020. This gives me hope that 2022 will be even better yet. However, last year I adopted a few good habits that I resolve to continue into the new year — I wrote more letters, took a real interest in skincare, and added a bit of glam to my everyday accessories. To reinforce this resolution, I plan to visit my beloved Pineider stationers’ recently opened shop in NYC, scheduled a facial where they use the highly recommended Biologique Recherche products, and will continue to wear oversized sunglasses and a crystal-pavé ring, which have added a bit of pizzazz to my runaround uniform.
Wishing everyone a very happy new year!

Winter isn’t coming, it’s here. Today is the winter solstice and the days will, thankfully, start to get longer. Yesterday, I posted this picture of myself and it was really nice to hear from designer Tracy Watts, who I bought the kerchief from 30 some-odd years ago, Penelope Chilvers, designer of my beloved and well-worn Incredible Boots, and Ellie Hawke, Head of Chanel PR and sender of the beyond fabulous Large Shopping Bag. Right now, the tote is stuffed with an extra sweater (Heidi Wynne’s fisherman knits are gorgeous), Joos Tricot cashmere caps, which are very soft and warm, and Hestra mittens — my hands get too cold for gloves and I can tuck a hand warmer in a mitten. Welcome winter!

We’ve had balmy weather for December, but the temps will drop again this week. A down sweater and quilted vest are layering options I’m considering.
PF22 Collections

The ivory, cream, and butter yellow pieces are my favorites in the Jil Sander PF22 collection. And, lots of lovely details that warrant a closer look.

I have two events today and this Dior PF22 dress would be perfect for the first. I love the lace peeking out at the bottom, keeps the dress from veering a bit mumsy.

Over the last two years I’ve tracked down a number of items on my the-ones-that-got-away list. Like the Chloé SS17 skirt above, all were found on resale sites. Now, NET-A-PORTER is joining in with it’s own resell service that they claim will be effortless. And, I’m sure it will be, their shopping and shipping services epitomize effortless.
To Read

As busy as it is right now, I’m reading/listening a lot. Audible while walking helps me stay on track, especially with considerable reads like Jonathan Franzen’s Crossroads, which I am thoroughly enjoying, and The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles for January book club. At 500 plus pages each, I use every spare moment. Last in the queue are Ann Patchett’s These Precious Days and Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan — all make perfect last minute gifts, as well.
