It’s that time of year again, time to break in new fall boots. The Ganni cowboy boots came with me to Wyoming in June, so they are ready to go. And, the Celine calfskin buckle boots were a snap — I’ve worn them around the house for a few days and they are almost comfortable enough for a full day of city walking. The cowboy boots come with either white or yellow stitching.

I haven’t taken a ballet class since I was probably 10, but I do love the sweaters ballerinas wear. Ann Mashburn’s cache-cœur sweater above wraps around your waist. The Jardin des Orangers sweaters below tie at the side — black & brown. The style is a nice change of pace and perfect as we head into fall.

September Cover

So far, my vote for best September cover and story goes to Catherine Deneuve on Harper’s Bazaar France. Stunning.

On My Radar

Brilliant stylist Suzanne Koller has a new collaboration with Matches’ in-house brand, Raey. These appear to be some of the upcoming pieces. Fingers crossed that the navy duffel coat is part of the collaboration, it’s quite something.
Two Thoughts

I’m inspired by The Row’s SS24 look on the left and Prada’s FW23 on the right. Beige boots and a white skirt with sweater, to be precise. Since I’ve held on to the Saint Laurent beige boots with too-high-for-me heels, I don’t buy new ones believing ‘I already have a pair.’ But in reality, I don’t. So, off they’re going to someone who will hopefully love them. I wear white jeans year-round, why not a white skirt? Thank you Mrs. Prada for the inspiration.

Fortunately, our LA-based family and friends are unscathed after the hurricane and earthquake. We had an insane amount of rain this summer, too — my trench and macs got a lot of wear, which is weird in July and August. I’m keeping them at the ready because they’ll be essential in the early fall months. I love this trench by Studio Nicholson, it would look great with the Polo Ralph Lauren sweater and loafers with Falke ankle socks.

Clare Waight Keller, former design director at Chloé and Givenchy, is designing a new line for Uniqlo. Uniqlo: C will be available September 15 and Vogue has the scoop. I was a huge fan of Waight Keller’s designs for Chloé and look forward to this collaboration.
On My Inspiration Board

This is my favorite street style image from Copenhagen Fashion Week, which was held earlier this month. The short woven leather bomber over a floor-length skirt is a super silhouette. I’m inspired.

Daria Werbowy came out of retirement for Sabato de Sarno, Gucci’s new head designer, who will be unveiling his debut collection for the house on September 22 in Milan. David Sims shot the campaign images. Rumor has it Daria will be the face of Phoebe Philo’s soon-to-be launched eponymous collection, as well. The newly dropped, and second iteration of Prada Beauty looks very interesting — love the green hued Lip Oil Balm. Disneyrollergirl has an excellent post on the new line. A few months ago I bought an antique French farm table from Elsie Green — a fantastic homewares shop in California. Their newsletter reminded me to catch the Terry O’Neill exhibition at Fotografiska before it closes on September 15. And, this Ganni coat, which is reminiscent of my Marfa Stance trench liner, caught my eye.

When I spied the Celine Lyra boots on the runway last December they went straight to the top of my FW23 wishlist. At first I was wowed by the magnificent jackets in the collection, but after another look at the show images I noted the boots. For years I’ve been searching for a chic walkable boot without a lug sole — et voila! They are very comfortable and true to size. Recently, I’ve been going down a half or even a full size in Dior, Chanel, and Miu Miu. The Miu Miu beige slingbacks did not suit me, btw.
The Mashburns redecorated their NYC shop on Madison at 74th and it looks fantastic — very Ann and Sid. I popped in yesterday to try the Parker jacket. The cut is impeccable with trim shoulders and the wool pique has a bit of give, which accommodates my chest; I won’t have to go up a size then have it altered. I’m deciding if I will wear a sweater underneath — that will determine which size I buy.
And, I picked up this large linen-blend scarf at Zara — it will be great come fall.
