A Non-Traditional Jean Jacket

The ultimate transition piece, the denim jacket is a forever staple. Collarless, belted, and workwear-inspired are nice non-traditional updates to the classic jacket.

I predict that gloves and turtlenecks will be must-haves this fall. Wearing cowboy boots was de rigeur in Wyoming and I cannot wait to bring them back out when the weather cools. Brown diamonds are on my radar and this Sidney Garber Thread Ring (as always) tops my wish list. I would love the cognac diamonds set in yellow gold, too. And, I threw in these sneakers because they are so chic in chocolate brown.
The Row gloves, The Row turtleneck sweater, Loewe sneakers, Ganni cowboy boots, and Sidney Garber Thread Ring.

I think patterned tights – all hosiery, actually – will be big this fall/winter. They certainly would make the front-slit skirt less daunting.
Falke and Wolford make terrific patterns and the prices are kinder than designer tights.

I love a midi-length skirt with a front slit — adds a bit of interest.

I’m kicking off the week with the first post of items or styling tips that I’m considering for fall. This Prada tie-neck blouse, loosely or completely untied, is on my inspiration board. White and blue

I’m a huge fan of the Vogue France video series, Une Fille, Un Style. The current installment is a visit with one of my style heroes, Valérie Leberichel. The Directior of communications at Givenchy, Ms. Leberichel gives us a tour of her Paris apartment highlighting some of her favorite books, pieces of furniture, and wardrobe items. Even if you don’t speak French, you get a real sense of her enviable personal style.

Late spring I filled a few holes in my summer wardrobe with Frame linen dresses and a Matteau skirt. However, by midsummer I’m craving a little tweak. This Toteme hobo — also in black and white — would transition into fall nicely. And, the Loro Piana leather trimmed canvas sandals and here are special.

Want to know why I’m obsessed with this selfie of Helena Christensen in Vogue Italia? No false eyelashes! Refreshing.

By the time I discovered Beare Park and fell for this brown maxi skirt, it was sold out in my size. Fingers crossed it comes back in stock. The Bite Studios asymmetric grey wool top with matching trousers is an easy look, and the Róhe asymmetric grey twill skirt is lovely and nicely priced.

I’ve been ruminating on my personal style; this is when I turn to women whose style I admire. American-born Parisienne Charlotte Husson is front and center on my inspiration board. I love how she dresses, mostly in her own line, Mister K. Ms. Husson possesses the ever elusive je ne said quoi of style. And, she has a sensational smile!
My style re-evaluation was sparked by my fatigue with the stealth-wealth/quiet-luxury aka absurdly expensive minimalism trend. I don’t want my clothes to say ‘I’m rich’, I want them to reflect my personal style — a personal style I’m tweaking.
