A new bag made its debut on the Hermès SS23 runway this morning, a hobo (updated Trim, perhaps?) with a clever outside pocket — comes in all the traditional Hermès colorways. And, I’m intrigued by the adjustable cord that loops around the neck to hold up the skirt — just my kind of tricky detail.

Over-the-knee boots need over-the-knee socks and Raey has you covered. They’re cute scrunched down with knee-high boots, too.

Books

Some eagerly anticipated titles will be released in October. Celeste Ng’s Our Missing Hearts, Dani Shapiro’s first novel in a number of years Signal Fires, The Last Chairlift, John Irving’s first novel in seven years, and I will gift The Complete Language of Food to a number of my foodie friends.

I love a good balmacaan, often better for running around than a trench. The one above, from The Row’s summer collection shown this morning in Paris, is gorgeous. And, the socks are still quite chic.

If you are very tall, very slim, and can walk in 4+ inch heels while wearing a floor-sweeping coat, this gorgeous collection is for you. Stunning colors and silhouettes, especially the opening look above.

When I spied this Ludovic de Saint Sernin wool button-front shirt on the runway last March it went directly onto my wish list. The classic oversized shirt is aptly named the ‘Go To’ and chocolate brown is a nice alternative to white or blue. It’s just so chic.

Many items in my wardrobe are enjoying a renaissance and I am very happy I didn’t do a massive clean-out during the pandemic lockdown – pieces I was sure that I would never wear again are now front and center. And, having items updated via tailoring has been my mission. An article in Financial Times talks to this and a number of fashion folks weighed in. #Don’tOverPurge
This A.P.C. knit coat is circa 1992. I forgot I even had it and it’s the perfect transition piece.

Matthieu Blazy’s brilliant sophomore collection for Bottega Veneta was presented on a site-specific installation by Italian artist and architect Gaetano Pesce. Nicole Phelps’s review for Vogue describes the “fabulous scene” and incredible clothes — it’s a must-watch show.

I’m heading up to Boston to see my girls and it’s going to be… gasp… in the 40s tonight— crimey. Granted, yesterday was the autumn equinox, but still. Last winter I started to ski, again, and bought new gear — all black, sadly. Brown looks so chic and NET-A-PORTER has the best pieces.

I just watched the Prada SS23 show and LOVE the collection — the grey + brown = my dream combo. And the leather coat below is stunning.
