Must-Read

Edward Enninful, editor in chief of British Vogue and the European editorial director for Vogue, is a really great guy with an incredible life story. His memoir, A Visible Man, was released yesterday and I only wish it had been published earlier so I could’ve read it on my flights to and from Paris last week.
Travel

I met my husband in Paris last week for a brief and very fun two day getaway. We stayed in the uber residential 16th and watched adorable children start the school year. For the first time in seemingly forever I do not have a child returning to school, which is wonderful and, yet, very weird.
The Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection was the highlight of the trip. It opened spring 2021 and the film chronicling the renovation of the historic building is fascinating. I popped into British perfume maker Lyn Harris’s recently opened Perfumer H outpost in the Marais to pick up her new scent, Bergamot. And, ordered a monogrammed white shirt from Crimson.
The perfect quick trip.
Beauty

Just when I was thinking that my mascara could use an upgrade, an email for the new Chanel Noir Allure Mascara popped up in my inbox — serendipitous.

It Items

A few of my fall faves — a Khaite short sleeve knit (I’m a short sleeve knit fanatic), Khaite jeans, Khaite oversized belt, and The Row scarves. This Saint Laurent tote looks so chic on the women I’ve seen carrying it, but it probably won’t come home with me. And, a touch of urban cowboy would look good with my Khaite denim skirt.
September Vogue France

I picked up the September issue of Vogue France in Paris yesterday. As in NYC, it felt like there were fewer newsstands about. The long dresses — Dior and Saint Laurent — with Chanel slingbacks are a nice combo. Entertaining at home over the holidays comes to mind.
On My Radar

These are The Row SS23 collection images. I paused when I noted how many looks have gloves. Not sure I’d wear white, but you never know.
Books

Two books I’m eager to read this fall — Elizabeth Strout’s third novel featuring Lucy Barton, Lucy by the Sea, is out September 20, and the chicest of the chic, Deeda Blair: Food Flowers, & Fantasy available October 18.
It Item

I’ve been thinking about the Saint Laurent patent slingback pumps from a post a few days ago, but the Chanel slingbacks above are pretty great, too. And the Khaite version below is also lovely. Hmm…

This is my ideal evening look. I have a Totême strapless dress, but I love this one by High Sport — it’s the fabric. Dangly earrings, cuff, and the slingbacks make the dress sing.
On My Inspiration board

This image is Look #10 in The Row’s SS23 lookbook and it’s on my fall inspiration board. I hope to capture the ease and proportions with items I already own.
