Bottega Veneta’s Asymmetric Dress

This Bottega Veneta asymmetric cotton midi dress caught my eye. I love the draped neckline and handkerchief hem — the tan is sensational.

Fun Fashion

I love minimalism as much as the next ’90s fashion magazine alum, but I try to avoid a head-to-toe minimalist look — a fun accessory keeps it all from bordering on boring.

On My Radar

Random Bits

The Burberry scarf depicting an illustrated scene of the gardens of Highgrove House in Gloucestershire — the private residence of His Majesty King Charles III — is lovely. I am eagerly awaiting the Carrière Frères Yuzu scented diffuser to arrive — Yuzu is one of the key notes in my beloved Louis Vuitton fragrance On The Beach. All of my stationery is blue. I have Smythson note cards and writing paper in Nile and Bond Street, both with white engraving, and Pineider’s Empress cards in blue with white trim. The green trim would be a breath of fresh air. The Guest by Emma Cline is on a number of spring must-read lists.

Linda Wright: A Shrunken Denim Jacket

In a moment of pure synchronicity, my sister was telling me that she saw lots of women wearing shrunken denim jackets in Provence last week when, seconds later, Linda Wright posted on herself wearing one in St. Tropez. Linda got hers at @battagliasttropez. I am now on the hunt for, as Linda says, a “slightly too small” denim jacket. Suggestions welcome.

Easy Evening: Tank & Skirt

A long, lean evening look has been serving me well and this wool tank and skirt by Wardrobe.NYC is stunning.

On The Runway: A Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall Bag

Bags have been getting bigger and my new Saint Laurent bucket is a nod to the trend — the bucket ticks a lot of boxes, actually.  But, these Louis Vuitton PF23 totes, shown in Seoul on Saturday, may convince me to go even bigger.

Augustinus Bader: The Retinol Serum

“The Augustinus Bader Retinol Serum is formulated for sensitive skin types who forego vitamin A products to avoid irritation”. Finally, a non-irritating retinol, has anyone tried it? xp

To Hear, Read, & See

I could not buy a ticket fast enough for Thirty Are Better Than One, an exhibition of over 100 artworks by Andy Warhol at the Brant Foundation. Lunch at Il Buco afterward with friends will make for a perfect day. My book club is reading Paradise Now: The Extraordinary Life Of Karl Lagerfeld. All of us knew or worked with Karl and William captured KL perfectly – a very good read. Next in the queue is Marcel Proust: The Seventy-Five Folios — all previously unpublished works. Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd is, in my opinion, one of her best. If you’re a fan, this is a fantastic album. And, I just bought tickets to Depeche Mode at Madison Square Garden October 28. Ideally, I’d like to see them in Copenhagen June 27, but I’ll be in Wyoming — would’ve been fun.

Easy Evening

For dinner out with my husband, I wore my new Saint Laurent short sleeve wool polo with a go-to satin skirt (Abercrombie nipped from my daughter), Dior mules (I went down a full size), and a Bottega Veneta mini pouch that I am loving again.

On My Mind

Down-To-Earth

I can’t think of a better way to spend Earth Day than working in the garden. As we head into our fourth summer stewarding this property, it’s rewarding to see plantings maturing. This weekend we are taking stock of what’s thriving and, more importantly, what’s not. Next week I’m going to hear famed landscape designer Edwina von Gal speak about sustainable and natural design — she is one of my garden heroes. In a few years I would like to commission artist Leslie Wortmann to capture our hard work. Above are the perfect gifts for fellow gardeners: Sophie Conran tools for Burgon & Ball (here in the US), a wooden trug, slate plant markers, and the seed packets from Hudson Valley Seed Co. are mini works of art.

Happy Earth Day!
