Just What I Need

Phoebe Philo dropped the first delivery of her second edit this morning and I snapped up these flats. Just what I need.

Styling Tip Courtesy Of Chanel & Louis Vuitton

A number of beautiful slip dresses are pushed to the back of my closet; I only wear them in the summer. I had an ‘aha’ moment yesterday when I saw these FW24 looks at Chanel left and Louis Vuitton right. A trim, fine gauge knit layered underneath would make a slip dress wearable all year round.

Miu Miu: Modern Ladylike

There is so much in the Miu Miu FW24 collection that I reviewed the images a number of times before I put this post together. Mrs. Prada told WWD that this is a collection of “(c)lassic items from all moments — and you can choose the child, you can choose the lady.” I love seeing updated versions of some of my beloved Miu Miu pieces, like the floor-sweeping black coat and short jackets. Little black dresses, pearls, fur (shearling) coats, and pencil skirts with matching jackets — through Miuccia’s lens — are back in the Prada universe.

Chanel: It’s In The Details

When I spied the chain belt tied with a bow in the Chanel FW24 collection this morning, my heart skipped a beat. I have the 2019 iteration with grosgrain ribbon woven through the links. The larger, simple chain is super chic. The blouson-ish top of this coat places it firmly on my fall wish list.

Hermès & The Row

The dresses with matching scarves and an obi style sash belt were, for me, the highlight of the Hermès FW24 collection. I’d wear both until the end of time.

The Row’s request that show attendees refrain from taking pictures was not honored by all and images were posted moments after the models walked the finale. However, The Row’s own imagery is stunning — far better than the grainy snaps and reels — and well worth the wait to view the Winter 2024 collection.

A Touch Of White

We are on the cusp of spring and white accessories brighten my now tired and dreary winter uniform. I’ve pulled out my Gucci 1955 bag and Dior pumps and have been wearing them with grey and brown. Dior reissued the Boy Slingbacks for SS24, a style from the PF20 collection that arrived in stores while the world was in lockdown. I bought four pairs from that overlooked collection — two black kitten-heels and the pumps in both black and cream — I’m a huge fan of broguing. Mine do not have the Christian Dior logo across the instep, which I prefer. Even though white tights looked great in the Chanel couture show, they’re not for me.

Moss Green

There were a lot of funky shades of green on the Milan runways, moss being my favorite. Last March I posted on the Saint Laurent hobo in burgundy, it’s been a workhorse in my wardrobe this past year. Now I’m eyeing the larger version of the same hobo in a mossy shade. Would be great next fall, too.

Return Of The Chloé Girl

Chemena Kamali’s debut collection for Chloé resurrected the fun, feminine, cool-girl style that made the Chloé label so beloved. And, a kitten-heel clog — a kind of clog + mule mash-up — is a dream come true.

Toteme’s Trench Skirt

With a nod to a trench — and also the girl guide uniform — this Toteme skirt would be a solid addition to my spring wardrobe. I would wear it with the Frame or Chanel slingbacks. The long belt tail looped and down the front is chic, or one of my own Miu Miu belts.

Thinking About Spring

After reviewing my SS24 runway posts from last September, I’ve narrowed down my spring wishlist to this Chanel dress and a pair of either black Saint Laurent or green Prada satin slides bottom right. These are can’t-wait-to-wear items.

While I Wait For Spring

In the meantime, I’ve been wearing some oldies but goodies. The Valentino coat has been out and about, Birkins, too, and my mother’s choker and sister’s short double strand of pearls have seen the light of day. Years ago, my sister gave me a gorgeous long single strand of pearls. I rarely wore it, so last summer I had the single strand restrung into the short double strand necklace above.
